Olomouc is reachable from two international airports (Prague PRG and Vienna VIE) and two local airports (Brno BRQ and Bratislava BTS).

PRAGUE (Václav Havel International Airport)

Getting from Prague to Olomouc

The easiest way to get to Olomouc is by train. Trains depart Prague Main Station (Praha hlavni nadrazi or Praha hl.n.) frequently and reach Olomouc in approximately 2 hours 20 minutes. The easiest way to find the connection is to use http://jizdnirady.idnes.cz/vlaky/spojeni/ (in case the page does not show in English, use the icon in bottom right of the page) and enter “Praha” for “From” and “Olomouc” for “To”.

• By Bus No. 119 to Dejvicka Metro Station, then by Metro line A to Muzeum, and one stop with Metro line C to Hlavni nadrazi.
• By Bus No. 100 to Zlicin, then by Metro line B to Florenc, and one stop with Metro line C to Hlavni nadrazi.
  • The tickets for Prague public transport can be purchased in the booths in Arrival Halls of Terminals 1 & 2 (from 7 am to 10 pm), from machines placed at bus stops (coins required), and from the bus driver (cash required).
• By Airport express Bus going directly to the Main station.
• By Taxi: we strongly recommend the official Yellow cabs.

An alternative way to get to Olomouc is by bus, see http://jizdnirady.idnes.cz/autobusy/spojeni/ (enter “Praha” for “From” and “Olomouc” for “To”. Bus ride to Olomouc takes much longer, over 4 hours. Buses depart Central Bus Station Florenc (Praha,,ÚAN Florenc), reachable by lines B and C of Prague Metro). We recommend STUDENT AGENCY buses, that can be booked online thru http://www.studentagency.eu/.

WIEN (VIENNA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT)

The easiest way to get to Olomouc is by train. The connection can be found at http://jizdnirady.idnes.cz/vlaky/spojeni/ (in case the page does not show in English, use the icon in bottom right of the page) and enter “Wien” for “From” and “Olomouc” for “To”. Please note that the trains can depart different stations in Vienna, be sure that you note the correct one. The ride usually involves one change (in Breclav, Ceska Trebova, or Prerov) and should take around 3 hours 30 minutes.

Getting from Vienna airport to Vienna train stations:

Olomouc can be also reached by Student Agency Buses through Brno. Buses are departing directly from Vienna airport. See http://www.studentagency.eu/ for time-table and online reservation. 

BRNO (Airport Brno)

From Brno, Olomouc can be reached easily by train or bus. Brno Main train station (Brno Hlavni nadrazi, Brno hl.n.) and bus station opposite to hotel Grand (Brno,,Benešova tř.hotel GRAND) are 100m from each other.

Train connections can be found at http://jizdnirady.idnes.cz/vlaky/spojeni/ (in case the page does not show in English, use the icon in bottom right of the page) and enter “Brno” for “From” and “Olomouc” for “To”. Trains ride should take 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours 30 minutes, most trains are direct.

Bus connections can be found at http://jizdnirady.idnes.cz/autobusy/spojeni/ (in case the page does not show in English, use the icon in bottom right of the page) and enter “Brno” for “From” and “Olomouc” for “To”. We recommend STUDENT AGENCY buses, that can be booked online thru http://www.studentagency.eu/. These are departing “Brno,,Benešova tř.hotel GRAND” terminal. Be careful with the other companies, in case the departure is from “Brno,,ÚAN Zvonařka”, this is another bus terminal south from the main train station.

  • The tickets for Brno public transport can be purchased at the machine in the Arrival Hall, from Newsagent's (Airport Shop) or from the driver (exact cash needed).

By car

For attendees from Central Europe, the best way to get to Olomouc is probably by car. Olomouc is located on the main D1 motorway connecting Prague, Brno and Ostrava. Overseas drivers should expect the usual Central European conditions including narrow roads and undisciplined drivers, although the Czech Republic is not much different from the rest of Europe. Road quality is slightly worse. December weather can include rains, frost and in mountain regions even snow. Winter tyres are obligatory in the Czech Republic.
